Evan Collis has been a professional photographer for more than 25 years. Starting as a cadet on a Perth newspaper, his career has grown to include photographic shoots for publications like Time, BRW Magazine, The Australian, Forbes and the Financial Review Magazine.

As well as extensive editorial experience, Collis has developed a strong portfolio in corporate photography, specialising in the resource industries such as mining and oil and gas production.

His client list includes many leading Australian and overseas companies - BHP, Rio Tinto, Wesfarmers, WMC Resources, Newcrest, Woodside and Alcoa, to name a few.

By combining an artistic eye with the instinct of a journalist Collis believes photographs are a vital form of visual communication. Images should convey a message and not just be a pretty picture.

Whether shooting a portrait in a boardroom, a sweeping landscape from a helicopter or miners toiling two kilometres underground, his eye for composition and location lighting skills result in high quality images that tell a vivid story.

Behind the scenes, Collis strives to work with clients and subjects to develop a well thought out photographic brief that is both original and realistic.

His motto: "you're only as good as your last photo" is what motivates Collis to always look for the "unique" shot - a challenge which, he hopes, will always keep his work fresh and, more importantly, different from the rest.
